How to achieve certificationBusinesses achieve Sustainability at Work certification by practicing sustainability actions across five categories: Materials & Waste, Energy, Water, Transportation, and Information & Education. Sustainability at Work Certified businesses practice required actions in each category. Sustainability at Work Silver and Gold businesses implement additional actions across all categories.

Certification is valid for three years.
- Businesses and organizations must be located in Multnomah County, within Portland City limits.
- Businesses must have two or more employees.
- Home-based businesses are not eligible for certification.
